- When is the best time to visit Charlotte Harbor, Florida?
- December through April is peak season: warm, dry and breezy, perfect for the harbor and the Gulf beaches. May and November are quieter and cheaper with great weather. Summer is hot and humid but unbeatable for tarpon fishing, and June through November is hurricane season, so keep an eye on the forecast.
- Where should I stay around Charlotte Harbor?
- Punta Gorda is the walkable, historic side, with harborfront parks, Fishermen's Village and restaurants. Port Charlotte is quieter and residential, with more house for the money. We keep a home in each: a downtown villa across from Fishermen's Village, a remodeled retreat near Sunseeker, and a pool home in central Port Charlotte.
- How far are the Gulf beaches?
- Figure 30 to 45 minutes: Englewood Beach and Venice to the northwest, and Boca Grande on Gasparilla Island, old-Florida sand and the tarpon capital of the world, to the southwest. The harbor itself is your everyday water: sunsets, fishing, kayaking, and the harborwalk.
